Sebec Photo Appendix

This is a collection of photographs that may be useful to parties interested in the purchase of the Sebec Hydro project.  We have selected a few photos of the forebay and tailrace when they were dewatered and of the dam structure that show the condition of the civil works and design.

Dewatered tailrace separated from river channel by training wall, remnants of fishladder on right

Sebec switchgear controls are located high and dry above flood levels

Slanting trashracks move fish left to downstream sluice gate, flashboards visible on left dam crest

Forebay and lake drawn down in late October to catch the fall rains, Rt. 1 bridge 50 yds upstream

Concrete cap over timber crib dam; left abutment requires extension of concrete cap into bank

Same view as above, but in midst of 1987 April flood, where one can see cause of bank erosion!

Control house is snug shelter from winter cold; generators are heated when not operating

Forebay when flood gates are open and lake is below the flashboards

Compare this high water photo with the calm end of lake photo at top of Sebec project page.
