Machine Shop Enhances Project Maintenance Swift River Hydro Operations Company has a state of the art machine shop that is capable of remanufacturing and rehabilitating worn or broken pieces from scratch. Wicket gates, links, pins, bearings, pressure cases, runner repairs, fabrication of trash racks, turning worn shafts up to 30 feet long, all can be manufactured at our facility in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Some of the equipment available in the machine shop include:
Turning Shaft for Brockway Mills Turbine Repair Swift River Hydro Operations Company's machine shop has machined new wicket gate casting, turned and threaded wicket gate pins, built trash racks for Con Edison's Dwight Station, fabricated a safety bolting system for the butterfly value closure at Woronoco Hydro's #2 Turbine, fixed warped couplings, rehabbed and tuned runners for Open Square Hydro, built new stuffing boxes, machined lignum vitae blocks for mill turbines, repaired dynamic brakes on vertical Francis turbines and generators, replaced piping and strainers on hydraulic governors, rehabilitated and rigged in and out new and rehabbed runners into 25 different hydro projects in the region, built switchgear, changed out breakers and solid state exciters, polished exciter slip rings on exciter generators, aligned bearings on both runners and generators, repair or rebuilt head gates, fixed rack and pinion gearing for gate lifters, installed hydraulic power packs for gate lifting and closing, redesigned and rebuilt gate case components, shift rings and governor arms. Swift River Hydro Operations has an extensive library of shop drawings and manuals for all types of operating hydro equipment, so that it can fabricate almost any part from original shop drawings.
